We at Fresh Living were curious about the state of environmental friendliness in our own community, and boy, you delivered – it’s very exciting for us to see so much passion around environmental awareness!
All too often, a human bias can occur (and it’s totally natural), where we think, “well, I’m just a drop of water in the ocean, I’m not making that big of a difference” – we hope that our Facebook post served to showcase just how many people stand behind you, support your actions, and support the difference you are making in your own backyard and beyond.
Before we get to the meat, potatoes and veggies of the article, we want to thank you. I want to thank you. When we submitted the call, we were amazed and thrilled with the number of responses we got. You’re all rock stars!
The following is a list of eco-friendly ideas, actions and quotes from our page followers, exemplars of the goodwill we hope to see more people take on. We hope that on this list, you find inspiration to further the quest for a greener, fresher planet!
- Purchase environmentally-friendly cleaners, sunscreens and bug sprays
- Bring reusable bags for the grocery store to reduce plastic consumption
- Drink from stainless-steel reusable mugs, and drink with stainless-steel straws
- Save what would otherwise be food waste for soups/broths
- Reduce plastic usage; even toys!
- Solar panels can reduce energy demands in the home and even offer out a net surplus; this is a costlier option, but the technology is more affordable in recent years and worth at least looking into
- Buy food in bulk, then store it in containers
- Further on foods, eat at home more regularly and plan meals; saves money, helps the environment, reduces waste
Please continue helping to spread the good word on environmental awareness, on community cleanliness, and most importantly, please continue to lead by example for a happier, healthier world!
