Like the rest of our furniture, the content we put up on our walls is every bit a reflection of ourselves; in this blog post, we want to examine the frames that help our pictures strengthen our spaces!
Firstly, a small note: everything we’ve used for photos here was previously on sale from our own Facebook Page. It’s already been sold, but the images chosen were done so because they’re a reflection of our own amazing Fresh Living staging team!
When selecting a frame, the options can get a little wild; there are plenty of matte coloured frames available (we’ll speak on those in a minute), as well as a number of wooden frames, like the one to our right! These can often be a reasonably simple choices, because the warmth they provide is somewhat universal. Earthier wood frames can help warm up darker images, while lighter woods can help make the image within the main attraction.
Wood frames can be ornate, simple, or chic. Try to plan according to your take on the image you’re looking to have framed!
Similarly, when using matte frames (black and white are far beyond being the most common) both provide something unique as well.
Black frames (see right) also work to amplify darker features in a photo, while helping contrast against lighter elements. If your image has a great deal of naturally contrasted features, this is the frame for you.
In that same vein, white frames act as an opposite; if the image is a pleasant blend of similar colours, or if your image is a candid photograph, they work great. They’ll also serve as a contrast for the darkness in your photos.
Metallic frames also have a part to play in this age: they offer a modern look, while being a perfect fit for those classic photos; if the frame itself isn’t just monochrome, but offers a very faint hint of another colour (think steel, gunmetal, or just plain old copper!), black and white photographs really pop!
Lastly, we look into the below articles, and at Fresh Living’s favourite for wall hangings: the frame-less, timeless canvas pieces. This was and is an article on picture frames: foregoing picture frames totally counts!
If you think the image you’ve selected has a quality blend of colours for the space, it can absolutely be standalone; having a matching set (see middle image below) is also a sound option. If you look back through our blog, this is by far the “frame type” that comes up the most in our staging reviews.
And that does it! Remember, if you are ever interested in a consult with Fresh Living’s staging team, that is indeed a service we offer!
