Fresh Living’s Rug Ruminations

When you have a room that needs a splash of something extra, a rug can go a long way!

Here are some rules of the rug, for when you want to spice up the floor without spilling a pepper shaker.

Take from that what you will. When it comes to rugs, it’s a definite truth! Nobody wants one that’s completely shadowed by the table above it! Live a little!

Get that rug extended under the key pieces of furniture in the room. It’s the family room – your rug doesn’t want to be undergoing a trial separation! Join it up!

Colour + pattern = your friendSheldon-Cooper

Shying away from something bold is easy. If your room has all the personality in the world, shouldn’t your rug? Conversely, if your room’s furniture screams “I’d be a librarian if I were people” (and there’s nothing wrong with that), shouldn’t your rug be the one bringing the party? Your rug should have pizazz. It should be snazzy. It should be zazzy.

Angles!?Fresh-Living-Decor-Advice-3

Yes. Angles. Angles help with that whole “personality” thing, especially when the rug shouts “I’m fun!” at the top of its little wool lungs. In this case, we’re applying every one of the other rules; this one adds tons of personality, it’s a good size, and it’s joined to the chez lounge while crossing to the chair. Voila! Rug magnifique!
